In just two months, the Hovey Family is headed to the beach! Ben and I are so excited because the last time we were on a beach it was 2016 and we weren’t even engaged yet. This time we are married and are going to have a BLAST with our son in the sand.
With this beach vacation coming up, I am on a hunt for a few bathing suits that will last me through swimsuit season. While I love the summer and all things requiring a swimsuit, I HATE shopping for suits. I have the hardest time finding a suit that fits well because my top half is a good two sizes bigger than my bottom half. And, I like to feel secure up top. I’m not a sunbather, I am a sandcastle making-wave riding-high diving summer gal. So, I can’t have things falling off (or OUT!)

So basically, I am going to share my hunt for the perfect suit and up first is my 8 Suit Haul from Amazon (thank the Lord for Amazon and free returns!).
The Try On
Suit 1

I was super excited about this suit, I love the peach bottoms and black and white striped top. The high rise bottoms cover *most* of my stretch marks and the sports bra type top is super comfortable. Bonus: the top keeps all of me in (I am a 38DD currently).
However, this one was NOT a keeper for me. The top wasn’t as long as I wanted, and kept rolling up under my bust. The straps were also narrow and seemed to really accentuate my broad shoulders. If you’re not as broad as me I would definitely take a look at this one, because it is super cute and keeps everything in its place!
Suit 2

I freaking LOVE this suit. The ruffled detailing, clasp back, and peek-a-boo mid section=ADORABLE! The middle section gives me the illusion of an hourglass shape (one day!) and the pattern is too cute! The bad news, the v-neck shows off a TON of cleavage. I ordered a size L and think I need to go up to an XL just so nothing feels ready to pop out of place.
Suit 3

This is my least favorite of all 8 I ordered. The material is on the thinner side and the back is a little…well wedgy inducing. Also, if ya can’t tell, I am popping out on ALL sides. If I was going down to Daytona for spring break, and I wasn’t a mom, maybe? I think this would be an awesome suit if you’re on the petite side!
Suit 4

THIS IS MY FAVORITE. I sent the link for this one to my BFF (and co-host of our podcast
The reason I can’t keep this one, I need 2-3 sizes up for the top. The bottoms were a little big, but because of the deep cut of the top, I need to go way up. Perfect suit if you’re not chasing kids on the beach!
Suit 5

so sorry about this
I love the one shoulder trend this year so I jumped on this suit when I saw it. Let’s start with the fact that I did NOT pay enough attention to the photos on Amazon. I was very unaware just how see-through the cutouts are. I have tiger stripes (and I’m proud of them, don’t get me wrong) but somehow the sheer cutouts made them more obvious.
The good news, I felt so secure in this suit. It is full coverage and I feel like I could swim a 500m in this bad boy. With that being said, this one was returned and I am keeping my eye out for something similar (minus the cutouts).
Suit 6

This suit went right to the KEEP pile! Just look at it! The top has clasps so you can wear it strapless or make the straps cross in the back. The emerald green top makes my eyes pop and the pink roses on the bottom add just enough color to make this just girly enough! The cut was also incredibly flattering on me. Stay tuned because there will be
Suit 7

This suit is my favorite of the one pieces (that fit) It is comfortable and, even though it’s got a deep-v in the front, I felt secure! Full coverage and crossing straps in the back brought me back to my days on the swim team. This suit was a little tight though, and I think if I sized up it would fit even better.
On a less positive note, my husband said (1) “Are you a
True love ladies & gents.
Suit 8

Last on the Amazon haul list, is this suit. This one is also a keeper. The pleated cut is going to make breastfeeding on the beach possible. The high waisted ruched bottoms hide the aforementioned pooch (and stretch marks!) and the v-shaped hemline is incredibly flattering!
Also, I could play sand volleyball in this baby, that is how secure the top is. If you are looking for a fun tankini, this is it!
