The day I left the hospital with Isaac it was 92 degrees. In the car on the way home, physically and emotionally exhausted from the long hospital stay, I turned to Ben and told him I would never be pregnant in the summer again.

Baby #2 is due at the very beginning of April, before the sun really even gets a chance to heat up Cincinnati, and this is perfect for me. I HATE being hot. Hate it. Hate it. HATE. IT.

So being pregnant during the cold months is a welcome change from the last pregnancy. BUT it comes with the struggle of, basically, creating a second baby bump wardrobe.

I was working while pregnant with Isaac, so my wardrobe consisted of four dresses, two pairs of shorts and a plethora of maternity tanks.

This time around I get to turn my style up to 11. I LOVE fall/winter fashion and throwing an adorable baby bump into the mix is just fun for me. On Instagram last week I shared that my lumberjack fashion thrives. This meme is me, x100:

Plus is gives me an awesome excuse to shop 🙂

So mama’s get ready to shop because today I am rounding up everything I’ll be buying for this baby bump!

Motherhood Maternity Staples Haul

With Isaac, I didn’t really buy anything from Motherhood Maternity. Let’s be honest, its a bit expensive and I didn’t feel like splurging on items I would only get to wear for a few months at a time. Plus, as I said, I never plan to be pregnant in the summer again. This time around, I have realized that the items from Motherhood are worth the extra $5-10 because the material is softer and holds up longer. Plus, they have it down to a science to make everything as flattering as possible!

The best news? Macy’s is having a 30% off sale with the code: FRIEND so let’s get to shopping!

The first thing I bought when I was pregnant with Isaac was a pair of leggings from Amazon. Although I liked these leggings, they didn’t hold up as well as I wanted. This time around I splurged and bought from Motherhood Maternity, I bought L. Since there is this big sale going on, I just ordered another 3 pairs 🙂 Don’t tell my husband.

Next staple piece is a few long sleeved tee’s, perfect for layering as the temperatures dropped. Again, I’m looking at Motherhood for the ruched sides that flatter the baby bump and make it very obvious there is something growing in there. Again, I ordered a L and in black, white and stripped.

Another layering piece is tank tops. I love camisole straps so I ordered white, nude and two black tanks for under shirts, flannels, or for bed. Oh, excuse me, the nude tank is actually called “oatmeal.”

You’re not going to want to wear them but it’s always good to have a pair of jeans at the ready. I bought a pair last year but they are really lightweight and might as well be leggings. This time around I have ordered a real pair of skinny jeans so that they will hold up against holiday weather. This pair, by Jessica Simpson, comes in a medium and dark wash. I went with the dark wash in a L.

The one thing I really really wanted this time around was a pair of maternity overalls. My mom spoiled me at the beginning of this pregnancy and bought me this pair. I have worn them so many times already and plan to keep on going. They are comfortable and so easy! There is also something super cute about a baby bump pushing out overalls.

A pair of really comfortable black flats is a must. You are still going to want your husband to take you on a holiday date to see Straight No Chaser, yes this is a hint to my husband, but are NOT going to want to walk around downtown in a pair of heels. I am a big fan of these black ballet flats by Dr. Scholls. While you’re at it, grab a pair of these cutie leopard print flats.

If you are working while pregnant spend the money on a pair of black pants for work. The belly bands work but you can tell that your pants aren’t actually buckled or fitting correctly. Maternity pants are so much more comfortable and you don’t want to be thinking about the state of your pants while carrying around an extra 20-30ibs.

A little black dress is also an excellent piece to have in your wardrobe at all times. Perfect for throwing a sweater over and heading to work, or for a night out! I was a big fan of the t-shirt dress while pregnant with Isaac and have already thrown this little number on twice this time around.

Finally, grab a flannel or two. I really enjoy flannels for the fall/winter season because they are really easy to throw on and carry an effortless style. A flannel is a great layering piece, which is perfect for running around during the holidays. Let’s face it, you can never gauge how you’re going to feel temperature wise while pregnant. Don’t be afraid but a hot flash can hit at any moment. I mean, you’re growing a person! I love these tunic’s from Old Navy, just go up a size so that you can button it over your belly as it grows!

Fun Fashion Pieces I LOVE

Just Because

I have become obsessed with pajama sets as I have blossomed into adulthood and being a mom. So this snuggle bunny pajama set was a no brainer. As a plus, it is perfect for nursing when baby arrives!

Literally anything and everything from PinkBlush Maternity! I bought the dress I wore to my BFFs wedding from PinkBlush and threw in this top as a bonus for myself. I have actually been trying to avoid looking here because I am going to buy everything one of these days. The material is to die for, so soft and stretchy. It is everything a baby bump prays for. I mean, just look:

For the Holidays

When I’m pounding down mashed potatoes and stuffing, I want to be comfortable but still cute enough for the family pictures. This simple red sweater is perfect and can be worn at anytime as well.

This layered top for date night is a must have! It is so darn cute and isn’t going to suction to the belly, perfect for dinner before a show.

One of these graphic long sleeve tees is perfect for Christmas eve!
